The thesis, defended on Jan 17th, 2003, discusses the concatenative approach to synthesis of singing as opposed to synthesis of speech, mostly from a phonetic perspective, and gives an overview of a simple, diphone-based system for singing synthesis. In a concluding section, it hints at possible corpus-based developments.
For a brief overview: an early (and not completed) version of Burcas was presented at Fonetik 2002 , Stockholm, May 2002. The article describes briefly some high-level aspects of (that unfinished version of) the system.
