Author's declaration:

Please note that I am not responsible for the relevance of the results of a pitch-class set analysis. In my opinion, in fact, it is little. A pitch-class set analysis, I believe, may elevate pure coincidences to structurally important connections, and, conversely, may obscure truly relevant properties that don't happen to leave footprints in the labyrinth of pitch-class set relations.

The method does exist, however, and it is part of the musicology syllabus at various universities. Once the initial segmentation has been performed, the rest of the analysis consists mainly of numerous but simple calculations -- mechanic, tedious, and time-consuming. The latter operations are obviously better suited for a computer than for a human being. The present program is offered for the benefit mainly of musicology students facing the task of performing a pc set analysis, with a will or without it.
